Linux on old PCs

Towards the end of last academic year I came across some rather forlorn-looking, boxy PCs that had been harshly discarded in favour of shiny new models. 
They were doing nothing but gather dust, so I took pity on them. These were computers which struggled to run Windows XP and so were deemed ‘past their sell by date’ by the ICT technicians. I’m in the process of resurrecting them by installing [3] Linux on them. More specifically, [4] K12LTSP which is an American Linux distribution specifically for older PCs in small networks. I’ve had a little trouble connecting them all together (I’ve got 5 in my classroom at present) but I’m working on it… So far, it’s been mainly pupils who have finished their work typing things up and my tutor group using the typing program (and games) at lunchtime. 
It’s worth checking out and looking into, though - especially if you’ve seen some computers gathering dust around your institution…
