  • EduPress Advanced – 04 – Inserting a Contact Form in your EduPress blog

Inserting a contact form in your EduPress-powered blog is easy but – as with the last advanced option – you’ll have to briefly disable-then-re-enable a plugin to do it properly. Here’s how to enable your visitors to contact you… :D

    1. In the Admin Control Panel go to Options/Contact Form

    Options/Contact Form (click to enlarge)

    2. In the Contact Form options screen you have the opportunity to change a few settings. Only one of these is mandatory for it to work – your E-mail Address! The text entered in the Subject box is what will displayed in the subject line of the email you receive when someone uses the contact form:

    3. The Success Message box is the text that someone using the Contact Form will see once they submit their question/comment:

    4. The Error Message box shows the text to be displayed if the user doesn’t fill out the form correctly or in its entirity:

    5. Make sure the Show ‘Contact Form’ Quicktag option is checked before you press Update Options

    6. Go to Plugins/Plugins

Disable EditorMonkey plugin (click to enlarge)

    7. Disable the EditorMonkey plugin (if you try to insert the Comment Form without doing this it won’t work!)

    Disable EditorMonkey (click to enlarge)

    8. Go to Write/Write Page

    Write Page (click to enlarge)

    9. The text editor will look a little different than you’re used to as the EditorMonkey plugin has been disabled. Enter the text you want to appear above the contact form, and give the page the title Contact

    10. Click on the Insert Contact Form button in the place you want the form to appear and then press Create New Page

Insert Contact Form (click to enlarge)

    11. If you now view your EduPress-powered blog, you should see a new tab called Contact

    View blog (click to enlarge)

    12. If you click on the Contact tab you should be presented with something similar to the following:

Contact Page finished (click to enlarge)

Test your Contact Form – if you get an email then congratulations! you’ve finished. If not, one of the settings (most likely your email address) is incorrect.

Don’t forget to re-enable the EditorMonkey plugin before you write a new post or page… (N.B. every time you edit the Contact page you’ll need to disable-the-re-enable the plugin)
