I’m delighted to report that the number of subscribers to the RSS feed of this blog continues to increase - in fact the number of people who accessed the site via this method hit 100 for the first time today! In addition, there’s around 5 people who’ve subscribed to the feed as a podcast. OK, so one of those is me to check it’s working and one’s probably my parents, but that’s still at least 3 people around the world listening to my dulcet tones on a regular basis… ![]()
Partly because it looks prettier and partly because I’m procrastinating whilst I’ve my Ed.D. Research Methods assignment to do, I’ve decided to represent the stats for this month graphically. So here goes:

As it’s been the end of the school year and the beginning of the summer holidays in the USA and UK I’m not too alarmed that the global number of people visiting the site has dropped - at least the number of subscribers to the RSS feed is going up! ![]()

I noticed that on the day I started podcasting this blog the daily bandwidth spiked from 15.64 MB to 92.25 MB - presumably because those who’ve never met me wanted to hear what I sound like. I should have put on my Yoda voice or something to confuse people…
The bandwidth has spiked (to a lesser extent) each day subsequent to me podcasting one of my posts. I might look into storing the audio files at the Internet Archive, as Wes Fryer does.
Frequenters of this blog will know that as of about 3 weeks ago I’m a Mac(book) user. Consequently it’s no surprise that this had an effect on the operating system stats of visiting users to teaching.mrbelshaw.co.uk:

Something I am pleased with is the declining numbers of people using Internet Explorer. I’ve nothing against people making informed choices as to what software they use, just that until the next incarnation of IE (version 7) it continues to be a spyware and malware magnet that makes Internet browsing a far-from-satisfactory experience. I’m glad to see some are heeding the advice that’s shown at the top of this blog to anyone using IE to view it… ![]()

Of course, being a responsible researcher, I could say that it’s those who are keeping up with the blog via the RSS feed over the holidays who are more likely to be tech savvy, and therefore more likely to use Firefox! ![]()
To round things off, then, here are the top 5 referrers (in terms of pages viewed) for July 2006:
