I saw this, too, and I’m with you. I was positively spluttering when I heard this. Still am, in fact. For one thing, my elder son is one of many, many teenagers who has a Saturday job. Surely this should be encouraged?
What on earth does he hope to achieve? Kids need LESS time in school not more. Alright, if the schools are to open for the use of the library and the pursuance of hobbies, such as sports and clubs. And if the teachers are prepared to put in the extra time (highly unlikely). Fine. But if they want to have lessons…
As a parent, I will kick up SUCH a stink! I hope teachers all over the UK threaten a mass walkout or something if the government dares to take this any further.
