‘Wiki’ textbooks for developing nations

WARNING! This website is no longer actively maintained. It is an archive of 2 years work by Doug Belshaw who now blogs at dougbelshaw.com...

According to this website, it looks like wiki textbooks will take off in the developing world before the developed world. Apparently, ‘The plan is to increase students’ access to educational material by overcoming the expense of traditional textbooks, which quickly become outdated.’ The project will hopefully be funded by the 1,000 richest companies in the world who will be asked to sponsor a title each. Leading professors will be asked to contribute chapters, and it will initially be written in English before being translated by volunteers into Arabic, Chinese and Spanish.
