  • Majority in UK ‘back selective schools’

You  have to be a bit careful with generalizing this research as it’s from a right-wing think tank, but BBC News reports that 73% of the 1,000 people interviewed by the Centre for Policy Studies thought that both academically able and not-so-able would benefit from selective schools. I have to agree: whilst mixed-ability teaching makes my planning load lighter (aim for the middle and differentiate for the top and bottom) it’s the worst of both worlds. But then who wants to teach the numpties? :p
