20 CommentsThere’s a great phrase mentioned by Tony Wheeler in the comments section of this Flux blog post. He cites Gareth Mills at QCA as describing current curriculum development efforts in the UK as centering around WYTIWYG (What You Test Is What You Get) – also known as teaching to the test. This is inevitable when school success is based on outputs and Heads of Department need to make sure their departmental value-added scores are high. I had my teacher assessment levels of students in my classes artificially increased last week because I’d been ‘too harsh’. Or did I tell the truth? Can’t remember… ;)
