The more work I do for my Ed.D. thesis proposal (subject: ‘digital literacy’), the more I see 1:1 laptop initiatives being the minimum for what’s needed for education in the 21st century. Clarence Fisher posted about Twitter in the Classroom yesterday noting that, just as many edubloggers collaborate and share good practice with one another via Twitter - in many cases via the excellent TwitterFox - so students too could benefit from such ‘hyperconnectedness’. I played a very fleeting part in Clay Burell’s presentation on the introduction of 1:1 computing at his school yesterday. I’m looking forward to the day when we can take such things for granted… ![]()

I guess I took a slightly different approach than the one you describe - I’m thinking less about worldwide connectivity and more about the local impact it can have.
